Admissions

Entry into Nursery

Applications are dealt with through the school office.

15 Hour Funding

Nursery pupils are normally admitted into nursery the term after their 3rd birthday. All children are entitled to 15 hours of funded education each week, which can be arranged over different sessions.  For children who wish to stay for the full day or who are attending the morning session only, we also offer lunch club until 12.15pm (cost of £4).

30 Hour Funding

An additional 15 hours of funded education each week (taking the total to 30 hours) is available for eligible working parents. This funding can be used entirely at Willow Tree, or maybe shared with one other nursery provider.

Additional Sessions

In addition, we provide the option to purchase extra sessions (£17.25 for each 3 hour session) should parents wish to do so.

Children are admitted to the Nursery Class in accordance with the current North Yorkshire Council Admission Policy.

Willow Tree Primary (5)

Entry into Reception

Admissions Policy 2024-25

Applications for places are dealt with by North Yorkshire Council.

The LA publish an annual "Guide to Parents starting Primary School" every Autumn Term. This includes advice on completing the online Preference Form. These booklets are distributed through school and are also available from the local education office. The school will remind all parents that they must return an online Preference Form to the North Yorkshire Council.

We have one intake each year, at the start of the Autumn Term. Reception pupils are normally admitted to school in the September following their 4th birthday. Prospective parents are most welcome to make an appointment to look around our school.  Parents are usually asked to complete preference forms in the Autumn of the year before the child starts school.

Places are allocated by North Yorkshire Council in the late Spring. Once we know our exact intake, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. In the Summer Term before the September start, parents come to an Open Evening to find out more about how we work and ask any questions they might still have.

This meeting also gives parents the opportunity to meet and talk with the Reception class teacher and other support staff. Soon after, children are invited to visit the Reception class for short visits.

Entry into Years 1 - 6

Parents of older children, moving into the area, are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school and to discuss admission with the Head teacher. As with entry into Reception, all applications for places are dealt with by North Yorkshire Council.

Appeals

Parents have a right to appeal against a decision not to allocate a nursery place. Appeals would be heard by the Governors' Appeals Sub-committee.

If the school is unable to offer a place to a pupil parents can appeal against this decision. Appeals should be made to North Yorkshire Council.
